Fort Anne National Historic Site is less than an hours drive from the Inn.  Set on the banks of the Annapolis River, this historic site gives visitors a glimpse of an era when Europe's powers battled for supremacy in North America.  The fort has a museum where visitors can see centuries-old artifacts and Heritage Tapestry.  Outside are defensive ditches, banks and bastions as well as a 300 year old Garrison Graveyard, where soldiers and civilians have been buried since the 1630's.  Fort Anne is the first stop for any avid history buff.
